Toei Animation announced New Dragon Ball Super Anime Film for 2022

Toei Animation announced on Sunday that it is working on a second film to the Dragon Ball Super franchise, with a release date set for 2022. Earlier this week, Toei Animation Europe listed a new film in the series.

The script and character design was handled by Akira Toriyama, the original producer. Toriyama sent out a letter to his fans, saying:

An all new movie since "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" is currently in the making!

Just like the previous movie, I'm heavily leading the story and dialogue production for another amazing film.

I really shouldn't talk too much about the plot yet, but be prepared for some extreme and entertaining bouts, which may feature an unexpected character.

We'll be charting through some unexplored territory in terms of the visual aesthetics to give the audience an amazing ride, so I hope everybody will look forward to the new movie!

Before the release of Dragon Ball Super: Broly in 2018, preparations for the new film project began. The aim of the film is to tell "a large-scale storey." Toriyama is also writing lines of dialogue for the film, in addition to plot composition and character design.

This film will be the 21st film from Dragon ball  Franchise.

In December 2018, the film Dragon Ball Super: Broly was released in Japan. In January 2019, Funimation started showing the film in theatres throughout the United States and Canada. The film grossed more than US$120 million in theatres around the world. Akira Toriyama, the author of Dragon Ball, wrote the script and designed the characters. The film was directed by Tatsuya Nagamine (One Piece Film Z), with direction by Naohiro Shintani.
