Manga 'Ao Ashi' Receiving TV Anime for Spring 2022

On Friday, Shogakukan announced that Yuugo Kobayashi's Ao Ashi (Aoashi) would be adapted into a television anime. The anime series will launch in the spring of 2022.

Synopsis: Ashito Aoi is a promising soccer player from a small Japanese town. His ambitions of getting into a good soccer club high school are destroyed when he provokes an incident during a crucial match for his team, resulting in their loss and elimination from the competition. Despite this, he attracts the attention of someone significant who is visiting from Tokyo. What will the outcome be for ashito ?

In January 2015, Kobayashi started drawing the soccer manga based on Naohiko Ueno's initial script in Big Comic Spirits. On Friday, Shogakukan released the 24th volume. The manga's volumes have sold a total of 7.5 million copies.

Ao Ashi was nominated for the 10th Manga Taisho awards in 2017 and won the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards in the General category last year.
