Sword Art Online Progressive Anime Film Reveals New Poster and release date

The panel "Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night Past & Future" at Aniplex Online Fest 2021 on Sunday revealed that the anime film will be released in Japan on October 30. A new main visual was also unveiled at the panel:

On Sunday, the official English Twitter account for the anime in the United States stated that "more information regarding the U.S. release will be coming soon!"

The second batch of MoviTicke Cards bundled with an A4-sized clear file folder will be sold in participating theatres throughout Japan (both featuring the above visual). Furthermore, fans can purchase the first-ever "MoviTicke Digital Cards," which function as a digital voucher good for one admission to a screening.

Inori Minase is voicing the new character Mito in the film.

The film is directed by Ayako Kawano (unit director on Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic, High School Fleet, The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky), and the characters are designed by Kento Toya (Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments). The action is directed by Yasuyuki Kai, and the music is composed by Yuki Kajiura, who returns.

Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kirito and Haruka Tomatsu as Asuna return to the voice cast as well.

The anime is based on the Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series by Reki Kawahara. The novel series debuted in 2012 as a retold version of Kawahara's original Sword Art Online novels. Kirito's journey through the floating Aincrad castle is depicted floor by floor in the storey. Sword Art Online: Progressive novel series, as well as two manga adaptations, are published in English by Yen Press.
