My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission Film Earns 940 Million Yen in its Four Days

THE MOVIE MY HERO ACADEMIA: World Heroes' Mission, the third anime film in the My Hero Academia franchise, earned approximately 940 million yen (approximately US$6.51 million) in its first four days of release, selling approximately 720,000 tickets.

The film earned 200.2 percent more on its first day than the previous film in the franchise, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising was released in Japan in December 2019 and earned 422,479,000 yen (approximately $3.86 million) in its first three days. The film eventually grossed 1.79 billion yen (approximately US$16.2 million at current exchange rates). My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, the first film in the franchise, grossed a total of 1.72 billion yen after its July 2018 release.

In the story of My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission, a mysterious organisation dedicated to the annihilation of people with Quirks issues a threat and detonates bombs around the world. Pro Heroes and Hero Interns scramble to locate the bombs. Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki meet Rody, a boy living in a mobile home in Oseon's designated area, and end up working with him.

Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of the original manga, served as chief supervisor and original character designer once more. Theatergoers will receive a bonus manga volume titled "Vol. World Heroes." The manga volume has a print run of one million copies.

Kenji Nagasaki returned to direct the new film at BONES after directing the television series and two previous films in the franchise. Scriptwriter Yousuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuki Hayashi are also returning. Asian Kung-Fu Generation sang the film's theme song "Empathy" as well as the insert song "Flowers."

In July 2018, the film My Hero Academia: Two Heroes was released in Japan. In December 2019, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising (Boku no Hero Academia the Movie -Heroes: Rising-) was released in Japan. Funimation released the film in the United States and Canada, where it debuted at the top of the box office in the United States in February 2020.
