The Rising of the Shield Hero 2 Anime Reveals new Trailer and Visual



On Saturday, the official website for The Rising of the Shield Hero 2, the second season of the television anime series The Rising of the Shield Hero, began streaming a new promotional video for the anime. The website also debuted a fresh look.


The anime will air on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, TV Aichi, and BS11 on Wednesday, April 6 at 10:00 p.m. (9:00 a.m. EDT), as well as Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, TV Aichi, and BS11. The anime had already been postponed, with an initial release date of October 2021. The anime will be streamed on Crunchyroll alongside its Japanese broadcast.

Masato Jinbo (Chaos;Child, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 2wei Herz!) will replace Takao Abo as director of the second season at Kinema Citrus and DR MOVIE. Keigo Koyanagi (Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars) is in charge of series creation once more. Masahiro Suwa (animation director for Chaika the Coffin Princess) is adapting Seira Minami's original character designs for animation once more. Kevin Penkin will return to write the music.

The opening theme song "Bring Back" will be performed by MADKID, and the ending theme song "Yuzurenai" will be performed by Chiai Fujikawa.

Ost Horai is played by Kana Hanazawa, who joins the cast.

In 2019, Crunchyroll confirmed that the anime would get a second and third season.

The original novel series and Aiya Kyu's manga adaption will be published in English by One Peace Books. The first volume of the books is described by the publisher as follows:

Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku who spends his days on games and manga, suddenly finds himself summoned to a parallel universe! He discovers he is one of four heroes equipped with legendary weapons and tasked with saving the world from its prophesied destruction. As the Shield Hero, the weakest of the heroes, all is not as it seems. Naofumi is soon alone, penniless, and betrayed. With no one to turn to, and nowhere to run, he is left with only his shield. Now, Naofumi must rise to become the legendary Shield Hero and save the world!

The Rising of the Shield Hero anime series debuted in January 2019 with a two-hour special and ran for 25 episodes. Crunchyroll broadcasted the series live as it aired in Japan. Crunchyroll debuted the first dubbed episode in September 2018 at Crunchyroll Expo, which featured guests from the anime.
