OSHI NO KO Anime Adaptation Announced

An anime adaptation of Mengo Yokoakari's "【OSHI NO KO】" written by Aka Akasaka has been decided. The teaser visual and main staff have been released.

The story of "【OSHI NO KO】" serialized in Weekly Young Jump (published by Shueisha) unfolds when an "idol" named Ai appears in front of Goro, an obstetrician and gynecologist working in a provincial city. The latest volume, volume 8, will be released on June 17. It has sold more than 3 million copies in total and was ranked No. 1 in the "Manga Awards 2021.

Goro works as an OB-GYN in the countryside, a life far removed from the entertainment industry. Meanwhile, his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino, has begun her climb to stardom. The two meet in the "worst possible way," setting the gears of fate in motion!

The teaser visual depicts the back view of the main character, Ai. Daisuke Hiramaki is directing, Hitoshi Tanaka is composing the series, Kanna Hirayama is designing the characters, and Doga Kobo Animation Studio is producing the animation. Commenting on the anime adaptation, Akasaka said, "I've been participating in the meetings, and I think we can do something that will surprise everyone," and Yokogari said, "The staff is very respectful of the original work, so I think it will satisfy both those who love the original work and of course, those who are new to the anime. I think it will be a satisfying experience for those who love the original story and for those who are new to the anime.
